PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective structure for a cooking appliance capable of protecting and simultaneously providing a working space above the appliance by covering above the appliance when not used with a heat preventive plate stood to scarcely transfer heat to a wall when the appliance is used. SOLUTION: The protective structure for a cooking appliance comprises a corner having a cooking appliance 1 at a left side of a front face of a counter 2 for a kitchen. A grate 3 is mounted above the appliance 1, and a tiltable heat preventive plate 5 is provided on a side wall 4. When the plate 5 is erected, it is functioned as the plate 5 interposed between the appliance 1 and the wall 4, or when the plate 5 is tilted down, it is functioned as a cover for protecting the appliance 1 to cover from above. To be tiltable, the plate 5 is vertically split to a tiltable part 6 and a fixed part 7, and hinged at its coupling part 8.
