PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress steam discharge to the outside of a rice cooker and to reduce influence on circumferential furniture or the like by providing a positive electrode and a negative electrode in the discharge passage of steam generated during cooking rice and appling a high voltage between the positive and negative electrodes. SOLUTION: A rice cooking pot 6 is heated by a heating means 5 to cook rice. As a rice cooking procedure progresses, rice and water temp. inside the pot 6 is raised, high temp. water becomes steam in the latter half of the rice cooking procedure especially and it goes to the steam discharge passage 7. In this case, the high voltage is applied to a part between the positive and negative electrodes 9 and 10 by a high voltage power source 8. Steam is electrified with a positive electric charge and supposed to be guided to the negative electrode 10. Guided steam is adhered to the negative electrode 10 and condensed. Condensed water is stored in a water storing means 11. Therefore, steam is suppressed to be discharged to the outside of the rice cooker and, then, influence on circumferential furniture is reduced.
