PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive image data without printing mistakes and to reduce time and effort and cost required for requesting retransmission to a transmission side. SOLUTION: A recording paper discharge port 14 is provided with recording paper sensors 15 that sense a length of recording paper in the sub-scanning direction, so as to print out data again onto the recording paper while the reception is finished, while the received image data are printed out on folded type recording paper. When the recording paper 18 passes through the recording paper discharge port 14, the sensors 15 sense presence/absence of the recording paper 18 at both ends of the recording paper 18. If the two sensors 15 are defined as A and B, then a recording paper fold detection section 13 calculates the absolute value of a sensing time (A-B) of the sensors A, B. The recording paper fold detection section 13 discriminates that the recording paper 18 whose absolute value exceeds a prescribed time X is folded recording paper and issues a print instruction again.
