PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire for heavy load with significant bead durability by optimizing the carcass line height and the wire chafer height from the vicinity of tire maximum width to the bead core opposing point as well as optimizing arrangement method for rubber chafer and side wall rubber. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire is provided with a bead core provided at a pair of bead portions to the left and right, a carcass ply made of a radial cord layer which extends from a crown portion over both sides to both bead portions wherein the bead core is hooked to the radial cord layer being folded back from inside the tire to outside, a wire chafer made of steel cord layer, a rubber chafer, and a side wall rubber. If a point at which the carcass line crosses a tire maximum width level is assumed to be P, and the bead core opposition point is assumed to be Q, a distance D from a center point R of a segment PQ to the carcass line is 8 to 11% the length L of the segment PQ.
