PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crash pressure adjusting device for a terminal crimping machine and a crash pressure adjusting method for a terminal crimping machine which can automatically adjust the pressure in squashing a crimp terminal to the most suitable pressure. SOLUTION: This device is provided with: a power mechanism for vertically moving a guide member 7; a pressing member 16 that is located at the lower end of the guide member 7 and performs a squashing operation to a crimp terminal; a pressure adjusting mechanism 15 for adjusting the projecting length of the pressing member 16 projecting downward from the lower end of the guide member 7; a pressure sensor 19 for sensing the pressure in the squashing operation; a pressure setting part for setting the most suitable pressure in pressing the crimp terminal with the pressing member 16; and an adjusting control means for adjusting the projecting length of the pressing member 16 by operating the pressure adjusting mechanism 15 so that the sensed pressure sensed by the pressure sensor 19 should coincide with the most suitable pressure.
