PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film-forming composition which forms a film excellent in physical properties such as ultraviolet-screening property, heat ray-screening property, antistatic property, resistance to scuffing, etc. SOLUTION: The titled composition contains a zinc oxide particle, a binder component and/or a solvent. The zinc oxide particle comprises, as essential components, two kinds of zinc oxide particles A and B, wherein the ratio R of Ds (002) to Ds (100), which are the sizes Ds (hkl) of crystallites in the vertical direction determined by Scherrer's method (Cauchy's function approximation) against two lattice surfaces (100) and (002), is 1.2 or smaller. Here, the zinc oxide particle A contains, other than Zn, from 0.1 to 20 atom % trivalent and/or tetravalent metal element (Md) against Zn as a metal component, but, in X-ray diffractometry, it is a zinc oxide particle exerting a zinc oxide crystallinity. The zinc oxide particle B contains, other than Zn, 0.01 atom % or less trivalent and/or tetravalent metal element (Md) against Zn as a metal component.
