PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make difficult application of a rotating force to a paper sheet and prevent diagonal feeding of the sheet by projecting both ends of a separating means in the axial line direction of a paper feeding roller toward the paper feeding roller. SOLUTION: The top paper sheet of paper sheets loaded on a paper feeding tray is fed out from the paper feeding tray toward a body with rotation of a paper feeding roller 5. The tips of the sheets intruding into a nip portion between the paper feeding roller 5 and a frictional member 11 are separated one by one by the frictional member 11 and fed to the body while being grabbed in the nip portion between the paper feeding roller 5 and the frictional member 11. The nip portion is a contact surface of both ends between the frictional member 11 and the paper feeding roller 5, and a pressurized force of the frictional member 11 to the paper feeding roller 5 is larger than that in the central part of the frictional member 11. Therefore, a rotating force is hardly applied to the sheets, and thus, diagonal feeding of the sheets can be prevented.
