PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an improved film unit and a disposable camera constituted to be compact and comparatively simple and having usability as well as excellent light shading property. SOLUTION: Flanges 16 and 18 have one inside front part 36 and one outside front part 38, respectively. The inside front parts 36 have one principal part 42 and one peripheral part 44, respectively. The peripheral part 44 is arranged on the outside in a radial direction and an axial direction from the principal part 42. The 1st terminal 22 of a film strip 20 is wound round a shaft 14. The film strip 20 has a smaller width dimension than a distance between the principal parts 42 in the axial direction. One leader is coupled with the 2nd terminal of the film strip 20. The leader has one inside part adjacent to the film strip 20 and one outside part adjacent to the inside part. The inside part has smaller width dimension than the distance between the principal parts 42 and the outside part has a smaller width dimension than a distance between the peripheral parts 44 in the axial direction.
