PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To open even a sheet which is rather thick and has rigidity by providing a protruding section on a suction pad in a manner to be confronted with an end section being vertical to the opening of the sheet, and providing the protruding sections at locations which are not confronted with each other. SOLUTION: A left protruding section 13 is provided on a left suction pad 11, and at the same time, a right protruding section 23 is provided on a right suction pad 21. The left protruding section 13 and the right protruding section 23 are provided at diagonal locations on both suction pads 11 and 21. By this constitution, large and small gaps exist at locations which are diagonal to each other, between the suction pads 11 and 21, and a sheet 30. Then, when a suction force is generated, a difference in the suction force is generated due to the difference of gaps, and a difference is generated between the suction force which is generated in the large gap, and the suction force which is generated in the small gap. Thus, the sheet 30 receives a force due to the difference in the suction forces, and a slipping effect is generated. Therefore, without providing an assisting mechanism to open the sheet 30, the sheet 30 can be smoothly opened by the suction force only.
