PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a rush-mat (tatami in Japanese) sewing device provided with a reverse-stitching machine capable of reversely stitching by one thread without turning the mat floor upside down and a flat stitching machine. SOLUTION: In this rush-mat sewing device having a mounting table 6 for a floor, a rail 8 extending along a side edge of a rush-mat held on this mounting table 6, a base 2 which moves forward and backward following this rail 8, and a flat stitching machine 3 and the reverse stitching machine 4 provided on this base 2, a reverse sewing machine 4 and a flat stitching machine 3 are provided, the former having a sewing needle 17 to extend through the rush-mat floor which has already been flat-stitched and positioned such that the surface of the mat comes to be the upper surface from the side face of the mat floor to the underside face thereof and to reciprocate, a lateral looper 22 for forming a loop by catching and drawing a thread ring made to appear on the underside face of the mat floor by the sewing needle 17, and a longitudinal looper 18 for catching the loop held by the lateral looper 22 and lifting it to the side face of the mat floor.
