PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive magnetic resonance signals concerning the neck and its root with high accuracy by providing a first electric path forming a saddle- shaped pattern, a second electric path shaped like the figure of 8, and a third electric path for connecting the paths to satisfy a specified condition. SOLUTION: A receiving coil 102 is formed by connecting a saddle loop 300 forming a first electric path and a loop shaped like the figure of 8 forming a second electric path to each other by a connecting part 700 as a third electric path. The saddle loop 300 has rectilinear paths 312, 314, 312' and 314' extending in the direction of (x) parallel to each other and arc-like paths 332, 334, 332' and 334' connecting the paths. The neck of a subject 8 is stored in a substantially cylindrical space, the contour of which is expressed by the paths, and a magnetic resonance signal generated from the space is received taking the direction of (y) as the direction of sensitivity. The connecting part 700 is provided to connect both electric paths 300 and 500 to each other to form a single closed loop as a whole.
