摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retard polarization of a battery caused by oxidation in sintering and enhance output characteristics and discharge voltage in deep discharge by adding metal having a melting point lower than that of a hydrogen absorbing alloy and a reducing agent in the sintering of the hydrogen absorbing alloy. SOLUTION: A reducing agent such as a carbon material and/or titanium exists on the surface of a hydrogen storage alloy, and a low melting point metal is preferable to be at least one of Sn, Ag, Al, Ba, Bi, Ce, Eu, Ga, La, Mg, Pr, Sr, Yb, In, and Zn. Based on the weight of a hydrogen storage alloy, 0.1-20 wt.% and 0.01-10 wt.% are preferably added, and decrease in the amount of hydrogen storage and excess surface covering are prevented. Low melting point metal is melted on the alloy surface in sintering, oxidation in low temperature sintering is retarded, decrease in surface oxide caused by a reducing agent and help of bonding between oxygen atoms is realized, conductivity of an electrode is increased, and this is suitable for a negative electrode. A specified composition of a rare earth element such as mish metal and Ni is preferable in a hydrogen absorbing alloy, and battery characteristics are furthermore enhanced.
