PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To insure high speed printing by a representing printer and to harmonize a waiting time by switching the other printers to a power saving mode. SOLUTION: The set information of a printer connected to a network through an IEEE1394 serial bus is recognized (S2), the existence/absence of a representing printer waiting in a normal mode is decided (S3), when the representing printer is not set, a printer meeting prescribed selection reference is selected (S4), and recovery time from a power saving mode to the normal mode is solved to quickly perform printing by maintaining a printable and processable state all the time (S5).
