PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably convey sheets from a pick-up roller to a feed roller at suitable intervals. SOLUTION: In a sheet conveying device, a feed belt 40 is stretched between the center part of a feed roller 20 and a spacer roller 26 rotatably fitted on the center part of a pick-up roller 23 so that a conveying force is applied from the feed roller 20 to the feed belt 40 but no conveying force is applied thereto from the pick-up roller 23. Further the linear speed of the feed roller 20 is set to be higher than that of the pick-up roller 23 so that a preceeding sheet is conveyed to the feed roller 20, being guided by the feed belt 40, and further, after the trailing end of the sheet passes by the pick-up roller 23, the following sheet can be conveyed with a space to the preceeding sheet.
