PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new renin activity substance obtained by utilizing an antipepide antibody which can recognize a specific amino acid sequence in a human prorenin profragment (hereinafter referred to as HPF). SOLUTION: This renin activity substance comprises the ligation product of human prorenin to at least one of anti-peptide antibodies which specifically recognize the sequences of >=15 amino acids at arbitrary positions in the sequence of 33 amino acids ranged from the 11-Ile to the 43-Arg in HPF having the sequence of 43 amino acids, or the ligation product of human prorenin to an antibody mixture of at least one of anti-peptide antibodies which specifically recognize the sequences of >=15 amino acids at the arbitrary positions in the sequence of 33 amino acids ranged from the 11-Ile to the 43-Arg in HPF having the sequence of 43 amino acids with an anti-peptide antibody specifically recognizing the sequence of 11 amino acids ranged from the first Leu to the 11-Ile in the HPF.
