摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion start control method for an engine which can ensure acceleration while restraining a shock from occurring and can control transient Nox, in a case of starting combustion of the engine in a state where the engine is rotated. SOLUTION: An engine of a hybrid car comprises an EGR apparatus, which can switch between a lean driving mode of a lean air-fuel ratio and a normal driving mode of stoichiometric/rich air-fuel ratio, and returns a part of exhaust to an air intake system. The engine is controlled by an ECU. At the starting of fuel injection, the ECU operates the engine in a lean driving mode, in which the fuel is injected at a compression stroke. Fuel injection timing and ignition timing at that time is later compared with timing of MBT. The driving mode is switched to the normal driving mode, in which the fuel is injected at an intake stroke by gradually advancing the fuel injection timing and the ignition timing after starting the combustion. Immediately before the switching to the normal driving mode, the EGR apparatus is driven to introduce the exhaust into mixture.
