PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a facsimile equipment to surely make a call by using other line, when one line is busy while the facsimile terminal having provision for one line is changed into that having provision for a plurality of lines. SOLUTION: This facsimile equipment is provided with a 1st relay 107, that selects a 1st telephone line to a 1st modem or to a handset and with a 2nd relay 107, that is placed between the handset and the 1st relay 107 to select whether the handset is connected to an option board or the 1st relay 107. Then the 1st and 2nd relays 107, 117 are controlled to connect a 1st telephone line or a 2nd telephone line to the handset. Even while one telephone line is busy with facsimile communication, the handset is used to make a call with the 2nd line, without the use of an externally mounted telephone set and a phone call arrived through the 2nd line, the handset can receive the call and make a speech without the use of the external telephone set.
