PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device performing multi-screen display in a short time that plural video data can be displayed in parallel on the same screen and a retrival characteristic is superior. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a discrimination information control circuit 13 indicating to a recording and reproducing section 10 so that when discrimination information of video data to be reproduced is inputted, plural video data being same as the above are read out from a disk, and display indication of specific video data out of multi-screen pictures is received, this specific video data are outputted, a multi-screen circuit 14 taking the read out plural video data in screens divided into plural and generating the multi- screen pictures, and a multi-output switching circuit 15 outputting the multi- screen pictures or the specific video data in accordance with indication from the discrimination information control circuit 13.
