PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer apparatus which limits influences by a voltage change or a printing speed change and can obtain a sufficient printing quality in a simple constitution. SOLUTION: A temperature of a thermal head is measured from an output signal of a thermistor 103 and a voltage impressed to the thermal head is measured from a signal from a head voltage-detecting circuit 108. A CPU 101 calculates a maximum energigation pulse width from the obtained temperature and head voltage, calculates a main pulse width on the basis of the maximum energization pulse width and a printing speed, calculates a sub pulse width of a predetermined ratio to the maximum energization pulse width according to a drive history and supplies an energization pulse of a total width of the main pulse width and sub pulse width to the thermal head.
