PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct injection spark ignition type internal combustion engine performing high-accuracy fuel injection by effectively cooling a gas seal part between a fuel injection valve and a cylinder head and suppressing the accumulation of deposits in the nozzle of the fuel injection valve. SOLUTION: A fuel injection valve 4 directly ejecting fuel to the inside of a combustion chamber 2 is arranged between two intake ports not shown in figure and on a lower side than the intake ports. A cylinder block 1 is equipped with a water jacket 13 between an inner wall 11 and an outer wall 12. A fuel injection valve gasket 5 inserted in a joint part between the fuel injection valve 4 and a cylinder head 2 is arranged to approach a cylinder head bottom surface 27 and a water hole 32 is arranged in a cylinder head gasket 3 in the vicinity of the fuel injection valve gasket 5, so that the fuel injection valve 4 can be cooled through the water hole 32 by the cooling water of the water jacket 13 brought into contact with the cylinder head bottom surface 27.
