PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly perform the inclination adjustment of a capstan for adjusting the running behavior of a magnetic tape in a magnetic tape recording and reproducing device. SOLUTION: A DAT(digital audio tape recorder) has a mechanism adjusting the inclination of a capstan in order to adjust the runnung behavior of the magnetic tape. A capstan inclination adjusting mechanism is constituted of first and second support fixing parts 71, 72 which rotatably support and fix a capstan motor supporting plate 63 at places of of both sides of a capstan so that the capstan 57 is to be inclined to a direction to be inclined and an adjusting screw mechanism part 73 which displaces the supporting plate 63 in a direction vertical with respect to the surface of the plate. Moreover, the first and second support fixing parts are made to be constitution which has support base parts 74, 75 and in which the supporting plate 63 is supported on the base parts 74, 75 and it is fixed with flat countersunk head screws 76, 77 and also which has the rigidity with which the supporting plate 63 never generates a sinking down.
