PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head which can uniform a temperature characteristic thereby stably carrying out a thermal process to a recording layer, e.g. uniform a temperature of a rewrite layer heated by a heating body thereby preventing generation of a part remaining without being deleted. SOLUTION: Both end parts 72a of a heating body 72 of an electric resistor which constitutes an erase head 50 and actually comes in pressed touch with a rewrite layer to thermally erase the layer are formed to a tapering trapezoid to reduce a breadth. A resistance value of both end parts 72a is thus increased. An amount of heat generated by both end parts 72a is made larger than by a central part 72a to help heat radiation. A temperature distribution in a longitudinal direction is uniformed and an erase characteristic is improved.
