Method (I) for inducing suckering in a banana or plantain tree comprises introducing a composition comprising a pesticide and a plant growth regulator into the tree. An Independent claim is also included for a method (II) for protecting two or more banana or plantain trees against pests, where the trees share a common root system, comprising cutting one of the trees to harvest its fruits and introducing a composition comprising a pesticide and a plant growth regulator into the cut tree.
