PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time to diagnose the leak of an evaporative fuel processing device. SOLUTION: Under a condition that after an engine is stopped, an air pump 13 is switched ON and also a selector valve 14 is shifted to the side of the air pump 13, and air forcibly fed from the air pump 13 is supplied from the fresh air introducing opening 9 of a canister 7 to purge lines 6, 10 through the selector valve 14, the change rate (difference in operating current values at two points for a fixed time and at a fixed interval) of the operating current value of the air pump 13 is measured as a leak level. The leak level is compared with a determining level, and in the case that the leak level is not more than the determining level, the occurrence of leak is diagnosed.
