PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a BS digital broadcast receiver that selects a channel of a BS analog broadcast and outputs a video image or the like of a program of this channel without the need for provision of an analog decode circuit. SOLUTION: The BS digital broadcast receiver that receives a program signal by a BS digital broadcast, demodulates and decodes the signal and outputs the result, is provided with a system controller 11 that accepts external selection of a channel of a BS analog broadcast set at start of a BS broadcast and instructs its setting, and a transmission multiplexing configuration control TMCC decoding means 13 that detects data to discriminate whether a selected channel is an analog channel or a digital channel when the channel is selected. Then the system controller 11 discriminates whether the selected channel is an analog channel or a digital channel on the basis of the detected data, and instructs again the setting of a simultaneous channel frequency of the selected channel if it discriminates that the channel is an analog channel.
