PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current limiting switch capable of switching a power supply circuit or a power supply of high and medium voltage safely and reliably with a simple structure. SOLUTION: This current limiting switch for medium or high voltage has an anti-arc contactor arraying S1 for carrying a rated current and a first change over passage K1 connected in parallel with a rated current contact array S1 which has a first switching device T for cutting off current. A second change over passage K2 provided with a current limiting device RB responding behind a change over current is connected with a rated current contact array S1 in parallel, the first switching device T connected with the first change over passage K1 in series, and a detached contact array ST are provided.
