PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MT optical connector of physical contact connection having lesser connection loss. SOLUTION: The multi-fiber optical connector is formed by inserting and fixing optical fibers 2 to a ferrule 1 of an approximately square shape having holes to be fitted with aligning pins and polishing the optical connector joint end face of a physical contact to the form projecting the end faces of the optical fibers 2 by, for example, severalμm from the ferrule end face lb. The radius of curvature of the ferrule end face is >=5.12×10000 mm. In the case of production, the ferrule 1 which is previously inserted and fixed with a plurality of the optical fibers 2 in the form projecting their front end faces from the ferrule end face 1b is used as the ferrule 1 containing the optical fibers 2 prior to polishing. Only the plural optical fibers of the ferrule 1 are polished to form the optical fiber end faces unified to a short projection length (b). At the time of optical connector connection, the end faces of the optical fibers 2 butted against each other are closely and tightly adhered even with the optical fibers 2 existing at the peripheral edge of the ferrule end face 1b.
