PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the discharge capacity of an alloy without deteriorating the initial activation of an electrode and cycle life performance by adding a proper quantity of the powder of the Raney nickel alloy to the hydrogen storage alloy electrode. SOLUTION: Powder of a Raney nickel alloy (nickel - aluminum alloy) is added to a hydrogen storage alloy electrode. The added quantity of the Raney nickel alloy powder to the hydrogen storage alloy 100 pts.wt. is preferably set to 0.5-20 pts.wt. The nickel content x (wt.%) in the nickel - aluminum alloy is preferably set to 30<=x<=65. The Raney nickel alloy powder improves the catalyst activity of the hydrogen storage alloy, thus the discharge capacity is considered to be increased. The added quantity of the Raney nickel alloy is preferably set to 1-10 pts.wt. Even after the Raney nickel alloy is added, the initial activation of the electrode and cycle life performance are equal to those before it is added. |
