PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording and reproducing device in which changeovers of recording systems are lessened in a process recording plural series of data from a certain recording medium to another recording medium while reproducing the data from the certain recording medium. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a system control microcomputer 300 which obtains track modes concerning respective pieces of music to be reproduced and determines recording systems of the respective pieces of music based on the obtained respective track modes and controls a recording-side MD(mini disk) unit 200 so that the respective pieces of music are recorded with the determined recording systems and controls a reproduction-side MD unit 100 so that plural pieces of music whose determined recording systems are the same are continuously reproduced.
