PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a server device and a storage device which do not damage hierarchical storage control to access from a network client without depending on the operation situation of a server device main body. SOLUTION: A hierarchical storage control mechanism 3 is provided with a dedicated network interface part, and a client is allowed to directly access a storage medium of each hierarchy without through a server device main body 2. Thus, data transfer is not lowered due to the operation state of the server device main body 2 and load because the network environment of the body 2 is not used even when the body 2 executes another application using a large amount of resources.
