PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image information reading method for film, capable of realizing higher efficiency and higher speed in printing operation by reading the image information of the frame of the film arranged at a specified position, while rotating and moving a spectroscopic mirror in one direction, and performing read for the next frame and photometry by making the spectroscopic mirror rotate and move in reverse direction. SOLUTION: Image information of the frame of a film 1 arranged at the specified position is read, while rotating and moving a spectroscopic mirror 6 in one direction. Then, the next frame of the film 1 is arranged at the specified position by frame feeding, and the read for the next frame and the photometry are performed by rotating and moving the mirror 6 in the reverse direction. With such a constitution, not only a go-path but also a return-path are utilized to read the image information of the film 1 when the mirror 6 is rotated and moved, whereby the image information reading speed nearly twice as high as that in the conventional technique is realized by interlocking the frame feeding of the film with rotating and moving the mirror 6. As a result, higher efficiency and higher speed in the printing operation are realized in a digital exposure device.
