PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of defective cell thickness distribution caused by projecting and recessing parts on the surface of an interlayer insulating film due to an arrangement pattern of wiring for mounting a drive IC in a sealant region, counter electrode terminals or the like. SOLUTION: In this liquid crystal display element, a dummy pattern 5 is provided in the region where source signal line 2 is not formed. The dummy pattern 5, provided with the same material and the same shape as the source signal lines 2, can equalize flatness of acrylic resin coating used as an interlayer insulating film, so as to uniformize the cell thickness. The direction of extension of the dummy pattern 5 preferably be made the same as the direction of extension of the adjacent signal lines.
