PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the organosilicon compound capable of being produced without using a transition metal catalyst and useful as an emulsifier, an emulsification auxiliary, etc., having a strongly hydrophilic property, a strongly interface active property or a strongly surface active property by adding specific units. SOLUTION: This organosilicon compound contains units of the formula: AaRbSiXcO(4-a-b-c)/2 R is a 1-22C monovalent hydrocarbon capable of being substituted by a halogen or the like; X is Cl or the like; A is a group of the formula: R4[-C(H)Cn(H2O)n]y-1; R4 is R2; R2 is a 2-30C divalent to tetravalent hydrocarbon capable of being interrupted by O or the like; (y) is 2-4; (n) is 1-1,000,000; (a) is 0-2; (b), (c) are each 0-3}. The compound is obtained by reacting an organic silicon compound having units of the formula: EaRbSiXcO(4-a-b-c)/2 [E is a group of the formula: R7-SH; R7 is a 1-12C (substituted) divalent hydrocarbon; one or more groups E are contained] with a compound of the formula [R8 is H or the like; P is O or the like; (k) is 0 or 1; R9 is R2] modified with a mono or polyhydroxylated hydrocarbon group, etc.
