PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the security of a network system. SOLUTION: In this method for certifying the user of a network system, a certification card 15 is inserted into a network computer client 11, and a password A is inputted so that the user can be certified. Then, the user inputs a different password B, and the inputted password B and the user name read from the certification card 15 are transmitted to a server 13 designated by the server name recorded in the certification card 15. The server 13 obtains a password corresponding to the user name from a data base 14, and judges whether or not the obtained password is made coincident with the password B inputted by the user, and applies the permission of log-in.
