PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately recognize the contour and skeletons of image data read out from a construction drawing and to smooth the outline of an image in each area segmented by the contour and each skeleton. SOLUTION: An image reading part 1 reads out an image of a construction drawing, a dot counting array data preparing part 6 prepares the dot counting array data of the read image data in the horizontal and vertical direction of the data and a contour/skeleton recognition part 7 recognizes the contour and skeletons of the construction drawing based on those data. An image contour smoothing part 13 continuously executes image expansion→image contruction and image compression→image expansion for the image data of each area segmented by the recognized contour and each skeleton and executes contour analysis and local convolution (CFC) processing for binomial distribution to smooth the outline of the image.
