COMPOSITE MAGNETIC HEAD AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite magnetic head of a one-gap structure having a magneto-resistance effect film as a reproducing head in which deterioration in the characteristics of the magneto-resistance effect film due to a recording magnetic field can be suppressed, and to provide the producing method of the head. SOLUTION: A magneto-resistance effect film 12 is disposed in the magnetic gap 3, 7 of the recording head 10. Magnetic domain controlling layers 5 are formed on both ends of the magneto-resistance effect film 12. The magnetic domain controlling layer 5 consists of a first antiferromagnetic layer 51 or a laminated structure of a ferromagnetic layer 52 and the first antiferromagnetic layer 51. Controlling of magnetic domains by the magnetic controlling layers 5 in the magneto-resistance effect film 12 can be stabilized by the first antiferromagnetic layer 51.
