PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheets handling device capable of knowing an accurate overhauling period based on the frequency of paper jamming and the frequency of operation. SOLUTION: A paper money carrying operation is started by an operation command (S101), whether a jam occurs or not is always judged during the carrying of paper money (S102), and when the paper money carrying operation is ended without generating a paper jam in the operation (S103), the operation is ended (S104). When a paper jam is generated in the carrying operation of paper money (S102), a jam frequency count is counted up by one (S105) and the operation of the device is stopped (S106). The jamming frequency is stored in an internal memory (RAM) 72, and when the ratio of the jamming frequency to operation frequency similarly stored in the memory 72 exceeds a set value, the necessity of overhaul is displayed on a display device.
