PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the fringing method for input characters which can perform enlargement or reduction of fringes according to the input characters. SOLUTION: Semiellipses which are positioned outside a rectangular frame 5 within which the input characters are displayed are set on the sides 15A to 15D of the rectangular frame 15 and the circumferences of the semiellipses are divided at equal intervals. At the midpoint between two adjacent points P1P2 among points including the division points and both end points of the rectangle sides, a vertex K1 is set outside the rectangular frame orthogonally to the segment between the two adjacent points P1P2 and at a specific distance from the midpoint of the two adjacent points P1P2 and fringing in a specific shape is carried out on the basis of three points, i.e., the two adjacent points P1P2 and vertex K1.
