PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display device capable of exactly judging an abnormality of electric power consumption even when a display rate is low. SOLUTION: This picture display device is composed of plural picture elements, and is provided with a display device 1 displaying a picture in multi- level by turning on each of these picture elements more than once for a prescribed period, a display rate detecting means 2 to detect a display rate based on the display data of the picture elements displayed on the display device 1, a power consumption detecting means 14 to detect power consumption of the display device 1, and a malfunction judging means 6 to judge a malfunction of the power consumption outputted from a power consumption detecting means 14 according to the display rate obtained by the display rate detecting means 2.
