PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To weaken the valve closing force of a throttle valve at a predetermined opening or less at the time of closing action of the throttle valve, and to certainly slowly close the throttle valve even when the throttle valve is closed from a low opening period. SOLUTION: This accelerator for a carburetor is equipped with a pressure chamber 26 communicating with the air bleed chamber 14 of the carburetor and a diaphragm 25 increasing/decreasing the capacity of the pressure chamber 26 which is interlocked to decrease the capacity of the pressure chamber 26 at the time of opening action of a throttle valve 8 and increase the capacity of the pressure chamber 26 at the time of closing action of the throttle valve 8. When the throttle valve 8 is at a required opening or less, the diaphragm 25 is energized in the valve opening direction of the throttle valve 8 by the action of a spring 43 so as to weaken the valve closing force of the throttle valve 8.
