PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct injection type internal combustion engine which can suppress the occurrence of difference between a target air-fuel ratio and an actual air-fuel ratio caused by adherence of fuel to a cylinder wall face or the like. SOLUTION: In this direct injection type internal combustion engine, injection finish timing of an injection valve is corrected on a retard angle side (for example, up to about 250 deg. BTDC) by an injection timing correction means when a temperature of an engine detected by a temperature detection means is low. Accordingly, a fuel adherence ratio to an upper face of a piston and a cylinder wall is lowered, and a fuel injection amount is corrected by an amount according to the fuel adherence ratio.
