摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable adaptation to a high recording density and a high transfer rate and to attain good direct overwriting. SOLUTION: A reflecting layer 2 and a recording layer 3 are successively laminated on a substrate 1 and a light transmissive layer 4 having <=0.3 mm thickness is formed on the recording layer 3 to obtain the objective optical recording medium which is irradiated with recording and reproduction light from the light transmissive layer 4 side. In this optical recording medium, the ratio Ac/Aa of absorptivity Ac when the recording layer 3 is in the crystalline state to absorptivity Aa when the recording layer 3 is in the amorphous state is >=1.1. The differences between physical properties of the crystalline and amorphous layers are reliably compensated by adopting irradiation with the recording and reproduction light from the light transmissive layer 4 side and absorptivity control in combination and a high linear velocity and good direct overwriting are simultaneously attained.
