PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image reader which is easy in mounting of a battery, without causing malfunctions or the like as much as possible, even if shock is applied at reading by forming a contact, which is positioned to be far from a recoding medium at the time of reading out of two contacts provided in a battery housing part, with an elastic member. SOLUTION: A contact 118, which is positioned far from the recording medium at reading from the two contacts 118 and 119 provided in the battery housing part, is formed with an elastic member. This contact on the side of a positive electrode 118 positioned on the distal side depresses a battery 16 to the other contact on the side of a negative electrode 119 at mounting of the battery 16. When a shock is applied to the image reader, force is applied to the battery and a positive electrode terminal 16-1 of the battery tries to move away from the contact 118. However, since the contact 118 has elastic force, it follows the movement of the battery 16 and keeps the contact with the terminal 16-1 of the battery and the contact 118.
