PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a clothes drying apparatus smaller and restrict the descending action of a wash-line pole at a normal lower limit position to improve the durability of a spur gear train. SOLUTION: A pinion 15 with a stopper 16 is put in the shaft part of either one of spur gears composing a spur gear train 13 for speed reduction. A stopper gear 17, which is provided with a stopper holder 18 and different from the pinion 15 in gear ratio, is engaged with the pinion 15. The gear ratio between the pinion 15 and the stopper gear 17 is set, so that when a wash-line pole 9 elevates normally, the stopper 16 does not touch to the stopper holder 18, and when the wash-line pole 9 descends at least below the lower limit position, the stopper 16 touches the stopper holder 18 to stop the descending motion of the wash-line pole.
