<p>Disclosed is an ink composition for ink jet recording which can yield printed images having no significant uneven feathering or bleeding, can be rapidly dried upon printing, can yield printed image having high print density, and, in addition, has excellent storage stability. This ink composition comprises at least a surface-treated pigment and a penetrating agent, the surface-treated pigment being a pigment which has dispersing groups on its surface and can be solely dispersed in an aqueous solvent, the surface-treated pigment having, under conditions of 20 DEG C and pH 8 to 9, a zeta potential of not less than 30 mV in terms of absolute value as measured on a water dispersion prepared by diluting the pigment by 1,000 times (based on the weight of the pigment) with ion-exchanged water.</p> |
