PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the eddy current on the surface of a mold developed with a continuous casting accompanied with electromagnetic brake, to make effectively use of the input electric power to the brake and to reduce the reaction of the mold affected in the electromagnetic brake by arranging one or more of layers made of a material having high electric resistance laid in the horizontal direction in the cylindrical mold body. SOLUTION: This mold used to continuously cast a metal accompanied with the electromagnetic brake is a copper-made cylindrical body having a rectangular cross section and has the essential constituting elements of the mold body 1 provided with a cooling means and one pair of the electromagnetic brakes composed of coils 3 and iron cores 4 for electromagnetic brake disposed near the long sides so as to interpose the mold body. One or plural pieces of layers 5 made of the material having high electric resistance laid in the horizontal direction on the long sides 11 of this rectangular mold body, are arranged. In this constitution, the eddy current developed on the long side portions of the mold body is cut off with the layers 5 and hardly made flow.
