PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based ink jet recording sheet and a manufacturing method thereof, which can not only have a superior absorption of water-based ink jet ink and form a clear and high density image, but also have no so called set off. SOLUTION: The water-based ink jet recording sheet has on the base material 15 an ink acceptable layer 16 in which each powder paint 13 of water absorptive resin grains 11 cover with hydrophilic inorganic minute grains 12 in its surface is mutually melted while having voids 14 partially therebetween. Such a water- based ink jet recording sheet can be obtained by forming powder paint on the base material in which a powder paint of water absorptive resin grains and hydrophobic resin grains covered with hydrophilic inorganic minute grains in their surfaces is dry-coated on the base material to subsequently be heat- melted and fixed thereon, and forming ink acceptable layers being mutually melted on the ink acceptable layer on the base material while allowing the powder paint to partially have voids therebetween. |
