PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fiber body uniformly dispersed into a resin compsn., a rubber compsn. or the like and having high effect for electrical and mechanical modification by forming a fiber body composed of copper into a plumose shape. SOLUTION: This plumose copper fiber body has branching, bending and necking, its total length is <=4 cm, and its diameter is 0.1 to 25μm. Copper halide such as copper chloride is subjected to reducing treatment at 400 to 800 deg.C for 30 minutes to 24 hours in an atmosphere of a weak reducing agent such as water and alcohol together with carbon particles of carbon black or the like to obtain a plumose copper fiber body. Preferably, the atmosphere of the weak reducing agent is composed of a weak reducing agent and inert gas such as argon, and the ratio of the weak reducing agent is <=80 vol.%. It is also possible that the weak reducing agent and a strong reducing agent such as hydrogen are jointly used, and the shape of the plumose copper fiber body is changed to improve the yield. The plumose copper fiber body is added to a matrix body of a resin compsn. or the like as it is or after pulverization. The fiber body is suitable for an electrically conductive material and an electromagnetic shielding material. |
