PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control system of a cylinder-resting engine which can both increase the fuel economy and maintain the performance of a catalyst in a case where exhaust systems are disposed to operating cylinders and resting cylinders, respectively. SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control system is used in a cylinder-resting engine 1 which operates operating cylinders 3 and resting cylinders 4 in a whole cylinder operation and stops resting cylinders 4 in a cylinder-resting operation. The exhaust emission control system comprises an operating cylinder exhaust system 6 which discharges exhaust emission of the operating cylinders 3, a resting cylinder exhaust system 9 disposed separately from the operating cylinder exhaust system 6 which discharges exhaust emission of the resting cylinders 4, a resting-side electric heating type of catalyst 11 placed in the resting cylinder exhaust system 9, a interconnection pipe 12 connected between both the exhaust systems 6, 9, opening/closing means 13 which opens/closes the interconnection pipe 12, judging means 20 which judges whether the engine is operated in the whole cylinder operation state or in the cylinder-resting operation, and driving means 20 which drives to open the opening/closing means 13 when it is judged that the engine is operated in the cylinder-resting operation state.
