PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain rubber reinforcing fibers with low smoke emission and high adhesivity in the form of tire cords suitable for rubber-fiber composites by imparting thermoplastic synthetic fibers with each specified amount of a specific alkylphosphate amine salt, a hindered phenol-type antioxidant and alkylsulfate metal salt. SOLUTION: The rubber reinforcing fibers are obtained by imparting the surface of thermoplastic synthetic fibers such as polyamide- or polyester-based fibers with 1-25 (wt.) ppm (in terms of P atom) of an alkylphosphate amine salt of the formula (R1 is a 8-26C alkyl-bearing alcohol or mercaptan residue; R2 is a 8-26C alkyl; X and Y are each an alkylene oxide residue; Z is an oxygen or sulfur atom; p and q are each 1 or 2, p+q=3; r and s are each 1 or 2, r+s=3; n and m are each 1-5), 100-700 ppm of a hindered phenol-type antioxidant, and 5-100 ppm (in terms of S atom) of an alkylsulfate metal salt (e.g. stearylsulfate K salt or Na salt) in the atom ratio P/S of (1:3) to (3:1).
